Orchid Information Systems Ltd is technical documentation and computer based training company with offices in Royston, Hertfordshire.

The company has been writing and maintaining technical manuals for a variety of business sectors since 1997. For example, you will find our manuals on oil and gas projects, on ships, on industrial process plant and embedded in software systems.

Requirement

Orchid are looking for an experienced Technical Author to join our team and assist a client by creating clear, concise Design Documentation to support a new machine for the Bioscience sector.

Requirements:

  • Previous technical writing experience – electro-mechanical, design documentation.
  • Previous hands-on industry experience is preferred – bioscience.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Microsoft Office / Teams.
  • Polarion experience useful.

Key responsibilities may be to:

  • Create, manage, and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
  • Develop and maintain templates and style guides to ensure consistency across all documentation.
  • Review and update existing documentation to reflect product updates and improvements.
  • Submit drafts and incorporate feedback to enhance documentation quality.
  • Visit the client’s site, as necessary, to obtain information from the Engineering Team.

Job Type

Contract. Immediate start.

Location / Travel

The project will largely be completed on-site at the client’s premises in North Hertfordshire or Orchid’s offices in Royston. Some work may be completed remotely.
