Orchid Information Systems Ltd is technical documentation and computer based training company with offices in Royston, Hertfordshire.
The company has been writing and maintaining technical manuals for a variety of business sectors since 1997. For example, you will find our manuals on oil and gas projects, on ships, on industrial process plant and embedded in software systems.
Requirement
Orchid are looking for an experienced Technical Author to assist our team by creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for Industrial Process Plant.
We require an additional technical author who can join a team producing documentation including operations, maintenance, installation and commissioning for a self contained carbon capture unit.
Requirements:
- Previous technical writing experience (oil and gas, petrochemical or packaged units).
- Previous hands-on industry experience is preferred.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Microsoft Word.
- Microsoft Teams.
Key responsibilities may be to:
- Create, manage, and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
- Develop and maintain templates and style guides to ensure consistency across all documentation.
- Review and update existing documentation to reflect product updates and improvements.
- Submit drafts and incorporate feedback to enhance documentation quality.
- Maintain technical documents for clients that have established and ongoing requirements.
- Hold Teams meetings or visiting a client’s site, as necessary, to review drafts and resolve queries.

Location / Travel
Projects are managed and delivered from Orchid’s offices in Royston. Work packages can be completed remotely.
